Select one of the following social issues: ï‚· Race/ethnicity ï‚· Sexuality ï‚· Gender ï‚· Social and economic class ï‚· Violence ï‚· Indecency/free speech Once you have selected your issue, research how this issue is approached in the field of popular culture. Refer to the Learning Resources and the Walden Library Course Guide for this class. (Note: In Week 3 you begin adding to the class resources through the Student-Contributed Resource Assignment.) Look for popular culture artifacts to analyze. You need two from a variety of categories. Any combination will work as long as no more than two artifacts are in the same category. Select your popular culture artifacts from the following categories:

 Episodic moving image (TV shows—may be broadcast or streamed)

ï‚· Music

ï‚· Music videos

ï‚· Fashion

ï‚· Advertising

ï‚· Animation (general animation/cartoons such as Disney or Warner Brothers, or genre-specific animation such as Japanese anime)

ï‚· Food

ï‚· Printed material (books, magazines, manga, comic books, or graphic novels)
