Hello Class and Instructor Bethune,

The three skills I have acquired through participation in general education courses that will help me strive to meet my academic and career goals are: Apply ethics and moral reasoning to academic knowledge and societal concerns, exhibit evident communication skills through investigative research and writing, and articulate the responsibility of global citizenship and multicultural understanding regarding academic and professional pursuits.

Applying ethics and moral reasoning is necessary because it provides reasoning behind moral judgments and decisions. I took a Philosophy Health Ethics course, and our final project was determining if taking a loved off medical support is ethical or unethical under specific ethical theories.

Exhibiting clear communication skills through investigative research and writing is critical in any college-level course. Writing is a great tool to expand your ideas and support your arguments. Philosophy courses and various English courses have given me the ability to hone these skills through defending my opinion and supporting it with facts.

Articulate the responsibility of global citizenship and multicultural understanding regarding academic and professional pursuits. Global citizenship and multicultural understanding are very beneficial for my professional career. It makes me aware of globalization and teaches you to respect and understand other cultures. My history, geography, and foreign language classes provided knowledge of a foreign culture.
